Event location and course
The Back 9 Endurance Run is an endurance running event held at Keweenaw Mountain Lodge in Copper Harbor, MI (14252 US Hwy 41). The course is a 3.68 mile loop that uses wooded trails including the Back 9 Trails and paths across the lodge's golf course. The route offers periodic views of Brockway Mountain and Lake Superior and lies inside the Keweenaw Dark Sky Park. The event takes place in spring conditions; weather can vary and race officials may cancel only for extreme weather.

Teams may register in groups of two or four, or participants may run solo. Only one team member may be on course at a time. Teams must begin a new lap every hour; solo runners must begin a new lap every two hours. Pacers are allowed for 24 hour participants beginning at dark; solo runners may use a support crew at the gazebo. Required gear includes a headlamp with extra batteries, rain gear, extra socks, warm outer layer, hat, and gloves. Runners must record each lap time on the timing board (honor system). No partial laps count. Littering is prohibited. Race officials may evaluate a runner’s condition and can refuse continuation for safety. No refunds or transfers.
