Run Like the Wind

Run Like the Wind is a trail running festival held on Sunday April 26, 2026 at 25905 Vantage Highway, outside Ellensburg, WA. The races run along trails, paths and roads among wind turbines on the Wild Horse wind and solar facility.

The event includes the following distances:

  • 5K
  • 10K
  • Free Kids Dash

The courses include significant elevation gain and loss and a few technical trail sections. Wind is likely at the site. The routes offer views of Mt. Rainier, the Columbia River and the Eastern Washington plains.

Organizers offer a guided tour of the wind farm before or after the races. Beer from Iron Horse Brewery and homemade food are available at the finish area. Participant numbers are limited to 200.

Every participant receives a race shirt, a wooden finisher medal and a custom race bib. As an alternative to traditional event swag, the event partners with Trees Not Tees so participants may choose tree planting instead; that option provides a certificate with a photo, species details and a geo-location for the planted tree.
