Grey Rock Trail Runs

Grey Rock Trail Runs is a series of summer trail races near Yakima, Washington, held at Tree Phones Campground in the Ahtanum State Forest. The event is in its 16th year and takes place in the Cascade Mountains of south central Washington.

The course is an out and back single track route with a mix of open ridges and forested stretches. Trails include rocky sections and smoother forest paths. The 25K course has more than 3500 ft of elevation gain. The higher mountain elevation tends to keep temperatures lower, but it can still become very warm by mid day. The 12K follows the same route as the 25K for a shorter distance.

There are aid stations with water, electrolyte drinks, power bars and gels at the 25K turnaround. Participants are advised to carry water and snacks. Day of race check in is at Tree Phones Campground and a short pre-race briefing is provided. Parking requires a Washington State Discover Pass for all vehicles.

Awards are given as medals to the top three men and top three women in each event. A custom short sleeve technical T-shirt is available for purchase for $30.
