Grey Rock Trail Runs

Grey Rock Trail Runs are summer trail races held in the Cascade Mountains near Yakima, WA, starting at Tree Phones Campground in the Ahtanum State Forest. The event is in its 16th year and uses out and back single track trails.

• 25K: out and back single track with over 3500 ft elevation gain.
• 12K: shorter option following the same route.

The course offers views of Mt. Rainier and Mt. Adams, open ridges and forested stretches, and a mix of rocky and smooth forest trails. Higher mountain elevation tends to keep temperatures lower, but conditions can still become very warm by mid day.

Aid stations supply water, electrolyte drinks, power bars, and gels at the 25K turnaround. Participants are advised to carry additional water and snacks. Awards include medals for the top three men and top three women in each event.

Parking requires a Washington State Discover Pass for all vehicles. A custom short sleeve tech T shirt is available for purchase at $30 for men's crew-neck or ladies v-neck; orders placed after June 30 might not be available on race day.
