Grey Rock Trail Runs
Yakima, United States • 11 Jul 2026
Event Overview
The Grey Rock Trail Runs is a scenic summer trail running event in the Cascade Mountains of south central Washington, near Yakima. This is its 16th year.
Courses and Terrain
The event features two out-and-back, single-track trail races:
- 25K with over 3500 feet of elevation gain.
- 12K which follows the same initial route. The courses are described as tough and rugged, traversing open ridges and forested stretches on rocky and smooth forest trails, with views of Mt. Rainier and Mt. Adams. All races start at Tree Phones Campground in the Ahtanum State Forest.
Runner Information
The higher mountain elevation typically keeps temperatures down, though it can get very warm by midday. An aid station with water, electrolyte drinks, power bars, and gels will be located at the 25K turnaround. Runners are advised to carry their own water and snacks. Awards are given to the top three men and top three women in each event. After the race, light refreshments are included for each participant.
Registration and Logistics
Registration is handled through an external platform. A custom short sleeve tech fabric T-shirt is available for an additional cost, with orders received after June 30 possibly not available on race day. There are no refunds. Race day check-in is at Tree Phones Campground 30 minutes prior to each race start, followed by a short pre-race briefing. A WA State Discover Pass is required for all vehicles parking at the venue. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
