Event Overview
The Teanaway Trail Run takes place in the Teanaway Community Forest near Cle Elum, Washington. This forest land, established as a community forest in 2013, consists of a Ponderosa Pine-filled valley situated between the Wenatchee National Forest and local farmland. The area is a habitat for various wildlife, including rare wolf packs, spotted owls, and wildflowers.
The event features four different distances:
- 5 km (85m elevation gain)
- 10 km (205m elevation gain)
- Half Marathon (430m elevation gain)
- Marathon (860m elevation gain)
Course Details
The courses primarily use dirt logging roads and smaller trails. Participants pass through forests, meadows, and sandstone slabs, with views of neighboring valleys and Mt. Stuart. The Half Marathon consists of one large loop, while the 5 km and 10 km routes follow the same path but utilize specific shortcuts. Marathon participants complete the Half Marathon loop twice. Aid stations are situated along the route providing water, hydration drinks, and various snacks such as energy bars, gels, and fruit.
Logistics and Facilities
The event center is located at a gravel parking lot on W Fork Teanaway Road. A Discover Pass is required for parking and camping within the Teanaway Community Forest; these are not sold on-site. Camping is available at the West Fork Teanaway Campground, which offers open space and pit toilets but no running water or electricity.
