Run for the Rescue 5K Trail Run/Walk

This is a 5K trail run and walk held at Blydenburgh County Park in Smithtown, NY. The course runs through park trails and includes sand, dirt roads, hard packed trails and some pavement. The event is dog friendly; dogs must be on a leash at all times, must not be left unattended, and participants with dogs are asked to start at the back of the pack for safety. A portion of event proceeds benefits Last Chance Animal Rescue. The organizer states that 100% of donations and fundraising directly impact LCAR.

Amenities and logistics include an informal bag check area in the staging area, park bathrooms within a few minutes walk of the start and finish, hydration provided at the finish line, and refreshments supplied by All Round Foods and Waterloo Sparkling Water. Bib pickup is available in person at Picnic Areas 1-5 starting one hour before the event start time, and virtual entrants will receive bibs by mail; mailed bibs may take 3 to 5 days to arrive after late signups. Participants are asked to wear their bib on the mid-torso, above the belly button, using four pins or equivalent to ensure visibility. Primary parking is at Picnic Areas 1-5 with additional parking at the boat launch and other park lots. Live online, email, and text results are provided along with same-day finish line photos and free video. Age group recognition covers top 1 F/M/X overall and top 1 F/M/X in these age groups: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-89, 90+.
