The Last Chance's Run for the Rescue is a 5K trail run/walk held on April 11, 2026 at Blydenburgh County Park Campground Playground, Veterans Memorial Highway, Smithtown, NY 11788. The event offers an in-person 5K and a virtual 5K option with a virtual participation window from April 11 to April 19. The park is dog-friendly; dogs must be on a leash, not left unattended, and participants running with dogs are asked to start at the back of the pack for safety.

Course, amenities and logistics

The course runs on park trails and includes a mixture of sand, dirt roads, hard-packed trails and some pavement. Bathrooms are located a few minutes' walk from the start and finish. Hydration is provided at the finish line. An informal bag-check area will be available in the staging area. Refreshments are provided by event partners named in the event materials.

Primary parking is at Picnic Areas 1-5 after entering Blydenburgh County Park from the Veterans Memorial Highway entrance; additional parking is available at the boat launch and other park lots. In-person bib pickup is handled by event staff starting one hour before the event at Picnic Areas 1-5; virtual participants receive their bibs by mail.

Registration is available for both in-person and virtual options and fees may include processing charges and optional extras. Age-group recognition is listed for overall top finishers and for age groups from 14 & under through 90+.
