Last Chance's Run for the Rescue 5K Trail Run/Walk

The Last Chance's Run for the Rescue is a trail event held at Blydenburgh County Park in Smithtown, New York. The course takes participants through a scenic route featuring a mixture of sand, dirt roads, hard-packed trails, and some pavement. The event proceeds benefit Last Chance Animal Rescue, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving animal lives.

Participants can choose between two primary registration options:

  • 5K Trail Run/Walk
  • Virtual 5K

The physical event is dog-friendly, allowing participants to bring leashed companions. For safety, those running with dogs are asked to start at the back of the pack. Amenities at the site include an informal bag check area and bathrooms located within a short walk of the start and finish lines. Following the race, high-quality refreshments such as sparkling water and coffee are provided.

For those participating in person, primary parking is available near the Veterans Memorial Highway entrance at Picnic Areas 1-5. Virtual participants have the flexibility to complete their distance at any location between April 11 and April 19, with the option to upload times and photos to an online results portal. Results for the in-person event include live online tracking and finish line photography. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
