Run for the Rescue 5K Trail Run/Walk
Run for the Rescue is a 5K trail run and walk held in April at Blydenburgh County Park in Smithtown, NY. The route runs through park trails and includes sand, dirt roads, hard packed trails and some pavement. Park bathrooms are located within a few minutes walk of the start and finish.
Registration is not yet open. There are in-person bib pickup options at Picnic Areas 1-5 and virtual participants receive mailed bibs; mailed bibs may arrive close to the race date and organizers note a 3–5 day allowance after late registration. Organizers also provide an informal bag check area in the staging zone.
Hydration is provided at the finish line and refreshments are supplied by All Round Foods and Waterloo Sparkling Water. Live online results, same-day finish-line pictures, and additional photos are available after the event.
The park is dog friendly; dogs must be on a leash at all times, must not be left unattended, and participants running with dogs are asked to start at the back of the pack for safety. Parking options include Picnic Areas 1-5 near the Veterans Memorial Highway entrance, a boat launch lot, and parking near the dog park.
Online age-group recognition is offered for top finishers overall and in standard age divisions. Donations and fundraising support Last Chance Animal Rescue, with organizers stating that donations directly impact the rescue. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
