Reuter-Hess Trail Run
The event is a trail running competition near Parker, Colorado that includes a main 10k and a Kids 1 mile. Online registration is closed; race-day registration is available by phone with payment accepted by cash, Zelle, or Venmo. Entry fees listed by the organizer are $55 for the 10k, $40 for the 19&u category, and $20 for the kids mile. Volunteers may help and can participate for free.
The 10k uses staggered starts by age and gender, patterned after the Dipsea format, with the first across the line declared the winner. Last year's top five entrants will receive a start time penalty; this is subject to change. SWAG for 2026 may include a head or neck gaiter and running socks. Awards go to the top ten finishers, the fastest female and male, and several additional places.
Course details: the route begins near a parking area with a gradual rise and a short downhill, then rolls to a pronounced incline that contains consistent steps spaced about 1.5 strides apart. After the incline the trail reaches a left turn at 0.5 mile, passes an aid station at 1.9 miles, runs a counterclockwise loop with varied rises and descents and views of the Front Range, and returns to the aid station at 4.3 miles. The final section rises back toward the top of the incline, then drops on a steep but smooth downhill before a short run to the finish. The Kids 1 mile uses the same start to the top of the incline and then follows the steep but smooth descent; parents or siblings may accompany children.
