Rodeo Trail Run of Austin
The Rodeo Trail Run of Austin is a multi day trail event in Spicewood, Texas, held March 13-15, 2027. The program includes multiple formats on Hill Country trails with rocky, steep, and technical sections that feature loose and exposed rock, short climbs and descents, and frequent grade changes.
Distances and formats:
- 13.1 miles Half Marathon, single effort trail distance
- 28 miles Marathon Ultra, single effort trail distance
- 4.167 mile Backyard Ultra loops, repeated each hour
- Backyard Duos two person team, strict alternation per loop
- 8 hour Timed Run using the same 4.167 mile loop at Grelle Recreation Area
Race services and recognition include fully stocked aid stations, a custom participant shirt, and finisher buckles for qualifying completions. The Half Marathon entry includes a free trail specific 12 week training plan for registered runners. The Backyard Ultra is a sanctioned Bronze Ticket qualifier with official results tracking and follows an out-and-back lap format where runners must complete each loop within the hour; the division continues until one competitor remains. The Duo division uses a single timing chip, strict alternation, and a timed handoff procedure that results in a DNF if an exchange or cutoff is missed.
The event is organized in partnership with Healthy Kids Running Series Cedar Park and supports HKRS Cedar Park youth running programs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
