Rodeo Trail Run of Austin
The Rodeo Trail Run of Austin is a multi-event trail weekend held in Spicewood, Texas, at the Grelle Recreation Area. The event offers a range of formats on Hill Country terrain, including rolling dirt roads, rocky sections, short steep climbs and frequent grade changes. Aid stations are fully stocked and finisher recognition is provided for all finishers.
Distances offered:
- Rodeo Half-Marathon, 13.1 miles
- Rodeo Marathon, 28 miles
- Rodeo Backyard Ultra, 4.167-mile loop per lap
- 8-Hour Timed Run, completed loops on the same 4.167-mile loop
The Backyard Ultra format uses a 4.167-mile out-and-back loop that must be completed within each hour to continue; the event continues until one runner remains. Runners who fail the hourly cutoff may drop into the half-marathon distance to complete 13.1 miles. The 8-hour timed run uses the same loop and awards a finisher buckle to those who complete at least three loops.
Event features include a starting chute, a midpoint turnaround ritual with token verification, a named aid station called the Chuckwagon, and cowbell signals at loop completion. Participants receive a custom participant shirt and a rodeo-style finisher buckle. The event is organized in partnership with Healthy Kids Running Series Cedar Park and proceeds support HKRS Cedar Park youth running programs. The event is not affiliated with Rodeo Austin.
