Event Overview

The Rock Solid Marathon and Half Marathon takes place in Coupeville on Whidbey Island, Washington. This is the event's second annual edition.

Location and Start/Finish

Both races start and finish at the historic Captain Whidbey Inn, a wooden lodge on Penn Cove built in 1907. The inn serves as the race headquarters for the weekend.

Course Description

The shared initial course leads runners along scenic Madrona Way into Coupeville. It then continues across the island to Ebey's Landing and through the Kettles Trail System.

  • The Half Marathon course returns to the Captain Whidbey Inn from this point.
  • The Marathon course adds a section with a few miles on a natural beach and meandering country roads before finishing along Penn Cove.

Event Details

All registered runners receive a custom race t-shirt and a finisher medal. A pre-race breakfast and a post-race celebratory dinner are planned at the Captain Whidbey Inn's restaurant.

Trail runs nearby

Trail races of 5K, 10K and half marathon take place on forest trails at Night Owl Landing in Kingston. Packed dirt and some gravel, hydration after each loop, awards for top three in male, female and non binary categories.

The first Whitehorse Oso Strong Half Marathon is a 13.1-mile scenic run in the Stillaguamish Valley. Registration includes a medal, T-shirt, and chip timing. Early registrants can receive a discount.

Trail races on Orcas Island over a June weekend offering 50K, 25K and a 75K Double through old-growth forest with steep climbs, scenic water views, staffed aid stations, and a seaside start and finish at Doe Bay Resort.

A multi-loop trail running event in Port Gamble, WA offering 100 mile, 100K, and 50 mile distances on eight 12.5 mile loops with three stocked aid stations and on-site camping.
