River Bluff Trail Runs

River Bluff Trail Runs is organized by the local Pony Express Trail Runners and takes place in St. Joseph, Missouri. The course links Krug Park trails and River Bluff Trail Park, running along the bluffs next to the Missouri River.

The main loop follows Krug Park trails and the River Bluff Park trails. The 50k is two 15.5 mile loops and the 25k is one loop. Trails are primarily smooth dirt with some roots and rocky sections. Each loop has about 2000 feet of elevation gain, for roughly 4000 feet total on the 50k. Runners will encounter steep bluff sections and mixed-use trail users such as hikers and cyclists.

Aid stations are manned about every four miles and will be stocked with water and snacks. A monitored drop bag may be left at the start for use during the race. A course map and a Strava link will be provided at a later date. Packet pickup is scheduled before race day and on race morning at the start area; specific times and locations will be announced.

Participants are responsible for their own safety and should stay on the marked course. The event enforces a no-shortcut rule that results in a DNF if violated.
