What Is Rise Thermopylae?

Rise Thermopylae is a Hybrid Immersive Personal Development Endurance Event (HIPDEE). It combines endurance challenges with mental, physical, and psychological tasks, aiming to push participants' belief in their bodies, minds, and spirit. The event is set on over 160 acres of wilderness bordering the Allegheny Mountains and George Washington State Park near Raphine, Virginia.

Event Format

Participants choose a duration: 6 hours, 12 hours, or 24 hours. The event involves navigating a marked backcountry loop and structured challenge zones while carrying weighted loads. Tasks include pushing, pulling, carrying, climbing, crawling, dragging, and enduring. The format blends ruck events, selection-style testing, and obstacle course elements. Challenges include mental clarity tests under stress, emotional resilience evolutions, and communication drills. There are no spectators; all attendees are participants.

Leadership and Support

Events and evolutions are led by experienced elite endurance competitors, tactical operators, and leadership and training experts. Cadre and coaches guide participants and provide post-evolution feedback.
