Event Overview

This is the 10th annual Red Moon Trail Run, held at Midland City Forest in Midland, Michigan. The event takes place on Saturday, August 29, 2026.

Distances and Format

The event consists of four races:

  • DAYTIME 5K
  • NIGHT TIME 25K
  • NIGHT TIME 10K
  • NIGHT TIME 5K

The race is based on a single 5k trail loop. The 10k requires two laps and the 25k requires five laps. Runners pass through a finish arch for split times on each lap. The course uses wide trails and mountain bike paths, which are described as flat. For the night events, the trail is marked with small LED lights to aid navigation. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Great Lakes Bay Veterans Coalition.

Participant Amenities

All participants receive a custom race bib, professional chip timing, and a 4-inch finisher medal. Free digital photos taken at the finish arch are provided online. For participants of legal drinking age, cold beverages are available. Race shirts are available for an additional fee with registration. Packet pickup and late registration occur on race day from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the field below the sled hill in Midland City Forest's Monroe Parking Lot.
