Red Moon Trail Run

The Red Moon Trail Run takes place in the Midland City Forest in Midland, Michigan. Participants traverse a 5k trail course consisting of flat, wide-track paths and mountain bike trails. For the night events, the course is marked with small LED lights to assist with navigation. The race is designed as a loop system where runners completing longer distances pass through the finish arch to record split times for each lap.

Available distances include:

  • Daytime 5k (1 lap)
  • Night Time 5k (1 lap)
  • Night Time 10k (2 laps)
  • Night Time 25k (5 laps)

The event is open to runners, walkers, and ruckers, though specific pace requirements apply to the longer distances. Participants in the 25k event are asked to maintain a 15 minute per mile pace to ensure completion by midnight. The daytime 5k is scheduled for those who prefer to see the course in natural light, and individuals may register for both a daytime and a nighttime event if they choose.

All participants receive professional chip timing, a finisher medal, and access to free online race photos. Adult beverages are provided for participants aged 21 and older with a valid ID. A portion of the proceeds from the event is donated to the Great Lakes Bay Veterans Coalition to support service members and veterans in the region.
