Red Barn Challenge

The Red Barn Challenge is scheduled for October 2–3, 2026 at Marzella Farm in Lykens, PA. The event offers multiple timed formats over the same loop course:

  • 24 hour race
  • 12 hour race
  • 6 hour race

The course is a chip timed, one mile loop that runs around ponds and fields. Terrain is mostly grass with areas of mulch and stone. Elevation on the loop is about 70 feet per mile.

A central food aid station provides general ultra running fare, including potatoes, rice, broth, and hydration products such as TAILWIND Hydration, plus additional items. Camping and trackside parking are available for the weekend to allow easy access to the loop.

Awards are presented to the top male and female in each time bracket and to other notable participants. The event supports local organizations including the Wiconisco Fire Company and Our Valley's Area athletics programs. Entry fees are listed from $92.81 to $125.97 USD and the current listing indicates sold out availability. Refunds are available at 50 percent only until July 1, 2026. Trail runs nearby

Out and back trail races at the Route 54 parking area in Weiser State Forest, featuring a 13.1 mile half marathon and a 3.1 mile 5K along reservoir lakes. Field limited to 300 entrants and proceeds support watershed conservation.

A weekend of trail races at Camp Mack in Newmanstown PA featuring a night 3.5 mile race, chip timed 12/6/3 hour endurance on a 3.4 mile loop, and free kids races with two course options.

An autumn 5K mud run fundraiser at Gretna Glen featuring 20 plus obstacles, competitive chip timing and non competitive waves, plus a separate 1.3 mile kids run for ages 5 to 11. Proceeds support Gretna Glen Camp and its ministry.

Run for conservation at the Ned Smith Center with a choice between a 5k creek-side trail or a 700-foot mountain climb followed by a festival with live music and local beer.
