Tröegs Rugged Trail 5k Run for Conservation

Millersburg, United States • 19 Sep 2026

Event Overview

The Tröegs Rugged Trail 5K Run for Conservation is an annual fundraiser for the Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art. The event is held at the Ned Smith Center in Millersburg, Pennsylvania. All proceeds support the center's lands and trails system. Participants can choose between two trail routes: the HopBack Trail (Beginner) and the Rugged Trail 5K.

The Location & Trails

The Ned Smith Center features a woodland setting with over 9 miles of trails across more than 500 acres. The property includes a scenic bridge over Wiconisco Creek and a children's natural play area. Two distinct trail options are offered:

  • HopBack Trail: A walker-friendly route that follows Wiconisco Creek, passes a rail trail, crosses the creek, and goes through the Nature Discovery Play Area.
  • Rugged Trail 5K: A route with more challenging terrain, featuring a 700 ft elevation climb through the woods of Berry Mountain.

Race volunteers will be present along each route. While the trails remain open to the public during the event, only registered runners are permitted to run with the group. Dogs are not allowed to participate but can be spectators.

What's Included

Registration includes a race t-shirt, a pizza token, a Tröegs Rugged Trail Ale token, and a swag bag. For participants age 21 and over, a free pour of Tröegs beer is included; participants under 21 receive root beer. A free slice of pizza is also provided. Trail mix, bananas, and other snacks are available after the race. T-shirt sizes (unisex XS-XXL) are guaranteed for registrations by August 16.
