Rayneing Medals Anniversary Challenge
The Rayneing Medals Anniversary Challenge takes place on The Flitch Way in Essex, starting from Rayne Station. This event commemorates the ninth anniversary of the organizer's first race. The course utilizes a segment of the former single-track railway line between Braintree and Bishops Stortford, which closed in 1969. The route consists of traffic-free, hard-packed trails through the countryside.
Participants can choose from several distance options:
- 5km (one lap)
- 10km (two laps)
- Half Marathon (four laps)
- Marathon (eight laps)
- 6-hour timed event
The event features a unique route layout consisting of 5.3km loops. Two different directions are marked, allowing runners to decide which direction to take after completing each loop. This structure ensures runners pass the aid station at Rayne Station every 5k. The aid station provides water, squash, flapjacks, fruit, and nuts.
This is a cupless event, meaning participants must bring their own reusable cup or soft flask as no disposable cups are provided. A bag drop area is available at the aid station for personal nutrition and gear. Finishers receive a goody bag and can select a medal from a collection of previous bespoke designs. The event is UKA affiliated and serves as a 100 Club qualifying event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
