Pitsea RC Crown to Crown 5K - July
Pitsea Running Club hosts Race 4 of the Crown to Crown 2026 series, a sequence of seven measured off road 5K races. The series is described as a trail 5K format suitable for different goals, from improving times to gaining trail experience. The event on 8 July is the July fixture in the seven-event series.
The 2026 race dates in the series are 3 April, 13 May, 10 June, 8 July, 12 August, 9 September and 26 December.
Start and finish are at Westley Heights Country Park, at the rear of the Miller and Carter Crown public house. Parking is limited; participants are advised to allow extra time and expect a short walk of about ten minutes if parking further away. Onsite toilets have reopened.
Entry fees include online processing costs: £2.50 for 18+ England Athletics affiliated runners, £4.50 for 18+ unaffiliated runners, and £1.50 for ages 12–17. The discounted rate requires membership of an England Athletics affiliated club; personal EA registration is not required. On the day entries are available at the same price. The event will be licensed by the TRA and run under UK Athletics rules.
The route is a fully measured 5K, mainly on bridleways with some tarmac sections. The course starts on Beeleigh Avenue, goes onto Lee Chapel Lane, loops through Essex Wildlife Trust’s Willow Park and returns to Westley Heights Car Park. Spikes are not suitable because of tarmac sections.
The race operates under UK Athletics rules with specific restrictions: no under 12s, no dogs, no pushchairs, no headphones except bone conductive; one mass start; gun to finish timing. Marshals, a tail runner, first aid, a defibrillator and water at the finish are provided. If the event is cancelled for weather, course conditions or landowner or government advice, entrants will be offered a transfer to a later 2026 race or a refund less unavoidable card processing fees.
