Rattlerock Ultra

Rattlerock Ultra takes place in Coopers Rock State Forest near Morgantown, WV. The event offers looped trail distances and is organized by Death to Tyrants Trail Running. The course runs on rocky, technical singletrack with natural features such as streams, wooden foot bridges, cliffs, meadows, and a reservoir.

  • 50k, four laps of a 7.9+ mile loop
  • 25k, two laps of a 7.9+ mile loop

The 50k distance includes almost 6,000 feet of elevation gain. The course is marked and checked before the event. Terrain descriptions note a very rocky and technical opening mile, tunnels of rhododendron, steep climbs and descents, loose rock sections, stream crossings, and a final flat rooty mile to complete each loop. Aid station support is provided with eight stations for the 50k and four stations for the 25k. A 9.5 hour cutoff applies.

Logistics note free parking, no support for pacers or distance switching, and allowance for crew at the start and finish area. Camping can be reserved inside Coopers Rock State Park and nearby, and hotels are available within about 10 to 20 minutes. Packet pickup is scheduled the evening before the race.
