Rattlerock Ultra
Rattlerock Ultra is a trail ultramarathon held in Coopers Rock State Forest near Morgantown, West Virginia, with the event site at 61 County Line Dr., Bruceton Mills. The race offers two distances:
- 50k
- 25k
The course is a roughly 7.9 mile loop run four times for the 50k and two times for the 25k. The 50k includes almost 6,000 feet of elevation gain. Terrain is rocky and technical, with boulders, winding hills, a tunnel of rhododendron, five-story rock cliffs, stream crossings with wooden bridges, meadows, a reservoir, and a rooty wide trail section near the loop finish. A steep climb of less than a mile leads to the first aid station.
Aid stations are provided along the route: eight for the 50k and four for the 25k. The course will be carefully marked and checked before the event. Drop bags are allowed and will be available multiple times on the loop. Crews may remain in the start and finish area and at the Rhododendron Trail aid station. Parking is free. Camping can be reserved inside Coopers Rock State Park and nearby lodging is available in the Morgantown area.
Awards are running hats presented to the top three male and top three female finishers. A 9.5 hour cutoff applies for completing the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
