Rattlerock Ultra

Rattlerock Ultra is an off-road trail event near Morgantown, WV, held in Coopers Rock State Forest and organized by Death to Tyrants Trail Running. The event offers two distances:

• 50k
• 25k

The course is a 7.9+ mile loop repeated four times for the 50k and two times for the 25k. The 50k has almost 6,000 feet of elevation gain. Trails are rocky and technical, with a very rocky first mile, boulders, winding hills, and sections that pass between rock faces and through tunnels of rhododendron. The route includes stream crossings with a foot bridge, meadows, a reservoir, rooty wide trail sections, and varied climb and descent patterns.

Aid and logistics: the 50k uses eight aid stations and the 25k uses four. Drop bags are permitted and are available to runners four times. The course will be carefully marked and checked before the race. There is a 9.5 hour cutoff for the event. Parking is free. Pacers and distance switching are not supported; crews may be present at the start and finish area. Camping can be reserved inside Coopers Rock State Park and nearby lodging is available. Post race food is pizza. Awards of event running hats are presented to the top three male and top three female finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
