Rattlerock Ultra
Rattlerock Ultra is an off-road trail event held in Coopers Rock State Forest near Morgantown, West Virginia. The race offers two distances and runs on a looped trail that passes cliffs, meadows, streams, and dense rhododendron corridors.
- 50k
- 25k
The course is a 7.9+ mile loop repeated four times for the 50k and twice for the 25k. The 50k includes nearly 6,000 feet of elevation gain. Trail surfaces are very rocky and technical in sections, especially early in the loop where boulders, winding hills, and tight turns predominate. Runners also encounter wooden foot bridges, stream crossings, open meadows, a gravel road section, a reservoir, and a wide rooty trail leading to the loop finish.
Aid and logistics: the 50k uses eight aid stations and the 25k uses four. Drop bags are permitted and available on each loop. Parking is free. Crews may access the start and finish area and one aid station is designated for cheer crews. Camping is available inside the state park and nearby lodging exists in the region.
The event is organized by Death to Tyrants Trail Running. Awards include running hats for the top three male and top three female finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
