Ranger Ultras High Peak HP18km Trail Run
The event is a one-day trail run on 18 October 2025, organized by Rangers Expeditions & Ultras and based at Whaley Bridge Uniting Church, Buxton Road, Whaley Bridge, SK23 7HT. The course is an out-and-back route from Whaley Bridge to the upper Goyt Valley and back. The distance is 18 km with a total ascent of 488 metres. The course is self-navigating and a GPX file and navigation course notes are provided to entered participants.
Entries, support and compulsory kit
Entries open 20 October 2024 and close 12 October 2025. Entry is limited to 40 participants; there were 15 entries at the time shown. Minimum age is 18. Entry fees listed are £20 (affiliated) and £22 (unaffiliated). Ranger Ultras provides safety team support at race HQ and on course; there is an on-course water stop at the race turn with snacks, and hot and cold drinks and food at HQ for returning participants. Finishers receive eco-medals; trophies are awarded for first male and first female. Full verified results are emailed to participants and published online within one week.
Compulsory kit includes a pack or bum bag; waterproof jacket with hood or other head covering; warm mid-layer; insulating hat and gloves; appropriate trail footwear; a hard-copy navigable map (OS Explorer OL24 acceptable); whistle; emergency bivvy or survival bag; sufficient fluids and food; first aid/blister kit and personal medication; and a fully charged mobile phone with a standard UK network SIM. Optional items include GPS, waterproof over trousers, an unbreakable mug, and walking poles. There is a kit check at race HQ and no sharing of kit is allowed.
