Rancho Hills Trail Run - Summer

The event takes place on Saturday, July 4, 2026 at Rancho Cañada del Oro Open Space Preserve, 4289 Casa Loma Road, Morgan Hill, CA 95037. The start line is on Longwall Canyon Trail and the finish is at the aid station near the picnic tables at the preserve main parking lot entrance.

Distances offered:

  • 5K
  • 10K
  • 8 Mile
  • 10 Mile
  • Half Marathon
  • 30K
  • Trail Marathon
  • 50K

The course is very hilly and mixes single track and dirt roads. Runners will encounter exposed sections with significant sun exposure, intermittent creekside shade under oak trees, and panoramic views along the Santa Cruz Mountains foothills. Elevation gain varies by distance, from about 465 feet for the 5K to about 6,945 feet for the 50K.

There are two fully stocked aid stations: the Rancho Cañada del Oro start/finish aid station and the Catamount & Bald Peaks Trail intersection aid station. Drop bags are allowed only at the main aid station. Organizers strongly encourage carrying at least one water bottle or a hydration pack; longer distances should carry more fluid. Trail signage uses colored ribbons and signed stages, and several intermediate cutoffs are strictly enforced, with overall cutoffs ranging from 1 hour for the 5K to 9 hours for the 50K.

Parking is limited; runners are directed to overflow parking on Casa Loma Road and to walk to the main lot for check in. One portable toilet is available near the start; other public restrooms are listed nearby. All finishers receive a medal. Entry fees are non refundable though credits may be provided for cancellations before race day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
