Course and logistics

Courses run through coastal redwoods, stream canyons, meadows, pine and oak forests, and chaparral ridges. The Half Marathon, 30K, Marathon, and 50K cross the San Lorenzo River multiple times. Surface breakdowns and elevation gains are published for each distance (for example, the 10K lists 800' gain; the 50K lists 5,175' gain). GPX files are available for each course.

The trail is marked with ribbon about every 200 yards and polka-dot flagging indicates required turns; blue ribbons mark wrong directions. Aid stations are fully stocked every 6-7 miles with fruit, salty snacks, candy, water, and electrolyte drink. The event is cupless; runners are asked to carry their own fluid container. Drop bags are allowed for the 30K, Marathon, and 50K at the Start/Finish. Timing uses MyLaps bibtags and results are published regularly. Headphone rules and other safety notes are provided for trail sections. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
