Trail Running in the Coastal Redwoods

The San Lorenzo River Trail Run takes place in Santa Cruz, California, starting at the Friendship Picnic Area in Harvey West Park. Participants travel through a diverse natural landscape featuring Coastal Redwoods that reach heights of 300 feet and ages up to 1500 years. The course transitions between lush stream canyons, open meadows, pine and oak forests, and ridges covered in high dry chaparral.

The event offers several distances for participants:

  • 50K trail race
  • Marathon (26.2 Miles) trail race
  • 30K trail race
  • Half Marathon (13.1 Miles) trail race
  • 10K (6.3 Miles) trail race
  • Coastal Testing (2 Miles) running race
  • Kid's Run (0.25 Miles) for children aged 6 and younger

Course distances are measured using a surveyor's measuring wheel to ensure accuracy. Those participating in the Half Marathon, 30K, Marathon, and 50K distances will cross the San Lorenzo River multiple times during their run. The event provides a free 1/4 mile run specifically for young children. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
