San Lorenzo River Trail Run
The San Lorenzo River Trail Run takes place on Saturday, July 11, 2026 in Santa Cruz, California. The event is based at Harvey West Park Friendship Picnic Area and includes multiple trail distances.
- 10K
- Half Marathon
- 30K
- Marathon
- 50K
- Kid's Run (6yo & younger, 1/4 mi) Free
The courses run through 300 foot tall, 1500 year old coastal redwoods, stream canyons, open meadows, pine and oak forests, and chaparral covered ridges. The half marathon, 30K, marathon, and 50K cross the San Lorenzo River multiple times. Distances are measured with a Rolatape surveyor's measuring wheel.
Elevation gain and surface composition vary by distance. Elevation gain ranges from about 800 feet for the 10K up to about 5,175 feet for the 50K. Course surfaces are primarily single track and dirt road with negligible asphalt.
The route is marked with ribbon approximately every 200 yards and color coded by distance. Polka dot flagging indicates turns and blue ribbons mark wrong ways. Runners should stay on the marked course and announce passing on the left. Headphone use is allowed on dirt road sections only and is not permitted on single track, while crossing paved roads, at aid stations, or when crossing the finish line.
Aid stations are fully stocked approximately every 6 to 7 miles with fruit, salty snacks, candy, water, and Skratch electrolyte drink. The event is cupless so participants should bring their own fluid container. Parking is free. Drop bags are permitted for the 30K, marathon, and 50K. T shirts are provided to pre registered runners and all finishers receive a custom medal; 50K finishers also receive a custom coaster. Top three overall finishers of each distance receive awards and race credits, and age group top three finishers receive medals. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
