Race The Train

Race The Train is an annual mixed terrain running event held in Tywyn and organised by the Tywyn Rotary Club. The event includes several named course options, notably the Rotary Challenge, Quarry Challenge, Dolgoch Challenge and Tynllwynhen Challenge. It is described as an event where many competitors return regularly to improve their performance or to try to beat the train that runs alongside parts of the route.

A participant video blog from the 2025 race shows the full Rotary Challenge from start to finish and highlights the terrain, the water points along the course, and the presence of marshals and spectators. There is an opportunity to ride alongside the race on the Talyllyn Railway. Results for past editions are published for multiple years, including 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.

The event offers volunteer roles on race day and has official merchandise available. The organiser acknowledges volunteers for supporting the event. The material provided focuses on race formats, course support and historical result records rather than entry details or timings. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
