Race The Train is an athletic event held in Tywyn, Mid-Wales, organized by the Rotary Club of Tywyn. The event takes place alongside the tracks of a local railway, where participants attempt to outrun a moving train across various distances and terrains.

The event offers several distinct race categories to accommodate different ages and distances:

  • Rotary Challenge: A 14-mile course for participants aged 17 and older.
  • Quarry Challenge: A 10 km race for individuals aged 15 and older.
  • Dolgoch Challenge: A 5.5-mile distance for runners aged 10 and older.
  • Tynllwynhen Challenge: A 3.5-mile route open to participants aged 9 and older.
  • Toddlers Trot: A short event for children aged 0 to 8 years old.

Registration for the various challenges closes on August 10th. Participants have the option to purchase additional train tickets for spectators during the Rotary, Quarry, and Dolgoch challenges. Tackle the Ras yr Aran Fell Race on Saturday, March 21st, 2026. The event starts at 1pm and includes a separate junior race. It's organized by the Meirionnydd Running Club.
