Race for the Planet 5K

The Race for the Planet 5K is the third annual 5K event organized by Babcock Ranch and scheduled for April 18, 2026 in Punta Gorda, Florida. The event starts and finishes at the William & Mary Ann Smith Sports Complex, 17100 Palmetto Pass Lane, Punta Gorda, FL 33982.

All participants receive a custom Race for the Planet shirt. Shirt ordering closes April 9, 2026 at 11:59 PM. Age-based pricing is offered; participants 18 and under have a reduced fee.

Early packet pickup is available April 15 through April 17 at the Babcock Ranch Lifestyle Office, 42911 Lake Babcock Drive, Punta Gorda. Race day packet pickup and registration are provided at the sports complex. Parking is available at the William & Mary Ann Smith Sports Complex with overflow parking at Babcock Ranch Field House, 43281 Cypress Parkway.

The course uses trails and sidewalks. Dogs may run with a participant but the owner assumes full responsibility and must maintain distance and clean up after the animal. Strollers may have difficulty on the trails. Spectators are accommodated at the start and finish areas. Post-race food and beverages are provided in the outdoor pavilion and restrooms are located at the sports complex.

Chip timing is used for the 5K race and awards are given by overall, masters categories, and age-group placements through 80 plus. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
