Gator Wilderness Camp Trail Run
The event is a series of trail races held on the wooded grounds of Gator Wilderness Camp School in Punta Gorda, Florida, on 250 acres of woods and shaded hammocks. Distances offered include the following:
- 5K
- 10K
- 15K
- Kids Fun Dash 1 mile; Virtual option available
Online registration details differ by race. The standard online entry fee for the 5K, 10K, and 15K is $30.00. Special youth pricing is available: kids 14 and under may register for the 5K at a reduced fee and cross country students age 15 to 18 have a reduced fee for the events, both with a stated deadline in April. A one-day virtual race is offered with a separate registration fee and a race shirt that will be shipped after the event.
The Kids Fun Dash is a free event for children ages 2 to 12; it does not include bibs, timing, or race shirts, and participating children receive a food band. Shirts are guaranteed for registrations received by April 1. Awards are planned for overall and masters finishers and for top three finishers in five-year age groups in the listed races.
Proceeds from race entry benefit Gator Wilderness Camp School, a 501(c)(3) residential school serving adolescent males ages 10 to 15 from Southwest Florida. Pets are not allowed and running strollers are not permitted on the trail. Packets not picked up before the race start will be forfeited.
