Welwyn and Hatfield Pretty Muddy 5k

The Pretty Muddy 5k takes place on Sunday 17 May 2026 at Stanborough Park, Stanborough Road, Welwyn Garden City, AL8 6DF. The route is set within the park grounds and runs over a mixture of cross-country terrain and paved pathways. The course includes bumpy sections and a number of uphill and downhill slopes and features obstacles that require climbing, crawling and sliding.

Event starts are organised in staggered waves every 15 minutes to manage course flow; groups should book the same wave time. The meeting point, and finish, are on the south side of the park behind the boating lake reception. A what3words location is provided for the exact start area.

Available facilities listed for the event include refreshments, toilets and parking. Parking is available in the south and north Stanborough Park carparks with fees and camera enforcement; blue badge parking is located in the South Lake car park. Drop offs are available in both carparks. There are no electric vehicle charging points at the venue. Public transport options include bus services 601, 300 and 405; the nearest train stations are Welwyn Garden City (about a 35 minute walk) and Hatfield (about a 42 minute walk).

Participants must be at least 13 years old. The entry fee is shown as Adults £22.49 and Children £12.00, with a minimum fundraising target of £50.00. Registered participants receive a fundraising pack, a customisable back sign, training support and a Race for Life medal on completion. Accessibility notes state the mixed terrain and inclines make the event unsuitable for wheelchair users. Sunflower wristbands and BSL stage content will be available on site.
