Quest for the Crest 50k/25k - Burnsville, NC

Quest for the Crest is a trail event in Burnsville, North Carolina, offering the following distances:

  • 50K
  • 25K

The route has been altered after Hurricane Helene affected the South Toe area. Organizers report that over half the trails are currently free and clear of washouts and blowdowns, and the 2026 edition will use a slightly different course while retaining significant climbing and mountain views. Updated maps, elevation charts, a runners handbook, and a video detailing the changes are available on the Run Bum Tours website.

Event amenities and logistics include a pint glass and a hat or beanie for all runners, a medal for all 50K finishers, free race photos, and a free mandatory shuttle ride to the race start. The registration close date is listed as May 16 at 11:59 PM ET.

The refund policy states there are no refunds, transfers, or deferments within 90 days of the event. Cancellations made more than 90 days before the event may receive half credit toward another Run Bum Race of equal or lesser value. Full credit deferral for pregnancy and for military orders is available and valid for two years from the event date.

Organizers warn that this course is rugged and technical and is not suitable as a first trail race. Runners may encounter sections that require scrambling on hands and knees and may need to filter water on parts of the 25K and 50K courses. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
