Quest for the Crest
The Quest for the Crest is an mountain trail running event located in Burnsville, North Carolina. This point-to-point race takes participants through high-altitude terrain in the Southeastern United States, featuring significant elevation changes and technical mountain trails.
The event offers two distinct distance options for participants:
- 50k: A point-to-point course featuring 12,000 feet of elevation gain and three major climbs.
- 25k: A point-to-point course covering the final 25 kilometers of the 50k route with 5,000 feet of gain.
Both race distances include a summit of Mount Mitchell, which is the highest peak in the region. Due to the nature of the terrain, the event provides detailed runner handbooks, aid station breakdowns, and specific cutoff times for each distance. Maps and aid charts are available to help participants navigate the course and plan their nutrition.
