Pumpkin Holler Hunnerd 2026

The Pumpkin Holler event offers multiple running distances set within the J.T. Nickel Preserve, a 17,000 acre conservation area northeast of Tahlequah, Oklahoma. The preserve sits along the Illinois River and contains rolling Cookson Hills, spring fed creeks, steep slopes and narrow valleys, plus oak hickory forest, pine woodland, prairie and savanna. The area is in Cherokee County near the Nichols Wildlife Preserve and reflects local Native American history.

Distances offered include:

  • 100 Miler
  • 100K
  • 50K
  • 25K
  • 10 Miler

Courses run predominantly on gravel country roads with some climbs and tree covered sections that display fall foliage. Routes pass near tributaries that feed the Illinois River and through areas of varied topography, including steep canyons and narrow ridges. Aid stations are staffed by volunteers, many of whom are experienced ultra runners, and provide food and assistance to participants. Finishers receive medals and a newly designed belt buckle that reference regional history.

A separate Pumpkin Holler Gravel Grinder ride and race is held on a Sunday alongside the running event and shares roads with 100 mile runners as they finish. Registration closes on Tue, Oct 13 at 11:59 PM CT. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
