Pumpkin Holler Hunnerd : October 17, 2026
The sixteenth annual Pumpkin Holler Hunnerd features multiple running distances through the J.T. Nickel Preserve, a 17,000 acre conservation area northeast of Tahlequah, Oklahoma. The preserve lies alongside the Illinois River and contains spring fed creeks, steep slopes, narrow valleys and a mix of oak hickory forest, pine woodland, savanna, shrub land and prairie.
The race course follows gravel country roads and includes several climbs. Runners pass grassy prairies, wooded trails and tributaries that feed the Illinois River. A small community named Pumpkin Holler sits on the course. The setting is within Cherokee County and near the Nichols Wildlife Preserve.
Aid stations are staffed by volunteers, many of whom are experienced ultra runners. Details for individual aid stations are provided on the event aid information. The event includes a gravel ride and race held on a Sunday that shares roads with the running course.
