The Potawatomi Trail Runs take place from April 9 to 12, 2026, at McNaughton Park in Pekin, Illinois. This event marks its 25th year.

The event offers several trail running distances:

All races end at 4 PM on Sunday. Early start options are available for runners concerned about cutoff times, though they are not eligible for podium awards. The 200-miler does not have an early start option.

The Course

The course consists of a 10-mile loop. The terrain is mostly single-track dirt with some prairie sections, several creek crossings, and rolling hills. Each loop has an elevation gain of 1,500 feet. Aid stations are located approximately every 5 miles.

Amenities and Logistics

Primitive tent camping is available at no charge starting Thursday morning, with no assigned spots. A large tent with picnic tables is provided at the start/finish area for runner gear. Drop bags are not permitted at the mile 5 aid station.

All participants receive a shirt and a finisher's medal. Finishers of the 50, 100, 150, and 200-mile distances receive buckles. Finishers of the 150 and 200-mile distances also receive a jacket. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
