Potawatomi Trail Runs - Pekin, IL
Potawatomi Trail Runs is a multi-day trail running event held at McNaughton Park in Pekin, Illinois. The event offers several ultramarathon and shorter distances on a looped trail course.
Distances:
- 200 mile
- 150 mile
- 100 mile
- 50 mile
- 30 mile
- 10 mile
The course uses a 10 mile loop made mostly of single-track dirt with some prairie sections, several creek crossings, and rolling hills. Each 10 mile loop has about 1500 feet of elevation gain. Creek levels vary with weather, so footing may be wet. Wildlife such as deer, turkey, and birds are commonly seen. Aid stations are placed roughly every 5 miles.
Pre-race logistics include a large carnival-style tent with picnic tables at the start/finish for runner gear. No drop bags are allowed at the mile 5 aid station. Primitive tent camping is available at no charge beginning Thursday; there is no power or running water on-site, and individual campfires are not allowed. Camp stoves and propane are permitted but generators are not. Porta potties are provided and charging power is available at the main aid station.
Race-day registration is available. Entry fees vary by distance. Shirts have been ordered but availability may vary; alternate swag may be provided. Finishers receive medals. Buckles are awarded to 50, 100, 150 and 200 mile finishers, and 150 and 200 mile finishers receive a finisher jacket. Traditional DNS and DNF timing rules apply; runners must complete their chosen distance to be a finisher. All runners will be chip or board timed, and course records must be documented via GPS.
