Course and race information
The event uses a 10-mile loop course composed mostly of single-track dirt, with some prairie sections, several creek crossings, and rolling hills. Each 10-mile loop has about 1500 feet of elevation gain. Aid stations are located roughly every 5 miles. The route passes wildlife habitat and runners may encounter deer, turkey, birds and owls.
Races use timed chip or board timing and have maximum time limits for each distance; course records must be documented with electronic GPS tracking. Early start options are available under specific conditions and are not eligible for podium awards; there is no early start option for the 200 mile distance. All participants must sign a waiver and follow park rules; prohibited items and activities include firearms, fireworks, swimming, alcohol and other park-restricted items. Camping is primitive and available on site at no charge; there is no assigned camping, no running water, and generators are not permitted. A large tent at the start/finish is provided for gear; no drop bags are allowed at the 5-mile aid station. All entrants receive a shirt and a finishers medal; finishers of the 50, 100, 150 and 200 mile distances receive buckles, and 150/200 mile finishers receive a finishers jacket. Deferral to the following year is available at 50% if arranged before the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
