The Pocahontas Trail Festival takes place on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Pocahontas State Park, 10301 State Park Rd., Chesterfield, VA 23832. The event includes the following distances:
- Half Marathon
- 10k
Entry fees listed on the event page are $65 for the half marathon and $55 for the 10k. The event uses professional chip timing and offers live results. Race numbers include a timing chip on the back; participants are asked not to fold or remove the chip and to attach numbers so numerals are right side up and visible.
Course and logistics
The course uses recently built and redesigned hiking trails. The 10k follows a loop; the half marathon completes the same first 10k loop and then follows a larger loop. The half marathon finishes with more than four miles on Coop and Trooper Trails. The newer trails are described as runnable with good footing most of the way. Updated course maps note that the first loop is the 10k.
Staging, start and finish are on a large grass field adjacent to the boat launch and pool parking lot; event activities will be at the black and orange tents on that field. Parking requires the park regular fee if entrants do not have a state park permit; weekend all-day parking is currently $10 per car load. Water stations are located at about miles 3, 6 and 9; participants are advised to carry refillable water and fuel because parts of the course are remote.
