13th Annual PHenomenal Hope 5K

The PHenomenal Hope 5K is an annual community event held in Pittsburgh. Now in its 13th year, the event serves as a fundraiser to support research for pulmonary hypertension (PH), a rare medical condition characterized by high blood pressure in the lungs. To date, the initiative has raised over half a million dollars for this cause.

Participants can choose from several event distances:

  • 5 km Run
  • 1 mile Walk
  • 1/2 mile Kids Run

The event is held at the Heinz Quay Boat Launch on the North Shore Riverfront Trail. The race day schedule begins with registration in the morning, followed by the youth-focused run and then the full distance events. The courses accommodate a wide range of participants, including specific categories for PH patients and various age groups from young children to adults.

For those unable to attend the physical location in Pittsburgh, a virtual runner and walker option is available, allowing participation from any location. The event is supported by various local and national sponsors, and those interested can also participate through fundraising or team groups.
