Pet Rescue Run/Walk 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk

The event takes place on May 22, 2027 at Columbus Park, 1670 Bauman Road, Columbus, Michigan. It offers an officially timed trail 5K, a virtual 5K option for participants not attending in person, and a 1 mile fun run that is not officially timed.

The course is on natural surfaces, consisting entirely of grass and dirt trails. Participants can expect rocks, roots, an elevation change of about 55 feet, and possibly muddy sections. The event is held rain or shine.

Registration opens January 1, 2027 and closes April 19, 2027. Fees listed by the organizer are $30 for the 5K and virtual 5K, and $25 for the 1 mile fun run. Participants who register by April 15 may receive an event t-shirt; later registrations may receive shirts while supplies last.

Teams and individual entries are permitted. Fundraising proceeds support J & J Furry Friend Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization that assists Michigan animal rescues. The organizer reports that more than $10,000 was raised over the past two years for local rescues. The top fundraising team captain will receive a commemorative mug and every dollar raised goes to Michigan animal rescues.

Prizes include entry into drawings for a fifty dollar gift card and other items for those who bring pet supplies. Awards are given for first and second male and female finishers and age categories in the 5K. All finishers receive a medal. Post event refreshments and cupcakes are provided by local sponsors.
