Pet Rescue Run/Walk 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk
This event takes place at Columbus Park in Columbus, Michigan. It offers a trail 5K and a 1 mile fun run/walk, plus a virtual 5K option for remote participants. The 5K is an officially timed trail run/walk held entirely on grass and dirt trails. Participants on the course can expect rocks, roots, an elevation change of about 55 feet, and possible muddy conditions. The event is scheduled rain or shine.
The 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk is not officially timed and has minimal elevation change. Teams may register to fundraise; proceeds support a 501(c)(3) foundation that provides supplies and funds to Michigan-based animal rescues. Past events have raised over $10,000 for local rescues.
Prizes and awards include post-race announcements for 1st and 2nd male and female finishers and age category awards for the 5K. All finishers receive a medal. Attendees may enter a drawing for a $50 gift card and other prizes by bringing pet supplies such as food, treats, toys, bleach, paper towels, or beds; additional items increase entry chances. Post-race water and snacks will be provided and cupcakes will be available to mark the honoree's 54th birthday.
Registration opens 12/31/2025 and closes 4/15/2026. Participants who register by 4/15/2026 will receive an event t-shirt; later registrations receive shirts while supplies last. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
