Snakes N Ladders

The Snakes N Ladders event is a trail running and hiking experience organized by the Perth Trail Series. Held in Serpentine NP, the event takes place on the Kitty Gorge trail, known for its iconic waterfalls. Participants navigate a course marked by the organizers through remote nature settings. The event village features a social atmosphere with live drummers and food trucks, while BBQ facilities are available for spectators and families.

The event categorized its distances using a color-coded system based on trail experience and length:

  • Green Course (5-7 km): A route focused on nature and adventure, where participants are expected to hike uphill sections.
  • Blue Course (10-15 km): The most popular option, suitable for those who can run most road distances and wish to stop for photos.
  • Black Course (12-16 km): Designed for experienced trail runners and adventurers looking for a more technical route.

Bib collection occurs on the morning of the event at the start and finish area. All participants must attend a mandatory briefing held ten minutes before their respective course start. There is an option for runners to decrease their chosen distance on the day of the event if needed.

Specific age and experience requirements apply to younger participants. Children must be at least 6 years old for the Green course, 12 years old for Blue, and 16 years old for Black. Specific prior race completions and adult supervision are required depending on the child's age and the selected course distance. Registration generally closes on the Tuesday prior to the event date.
