Paseo de Mariposa Trail Race - Mariposa, California

The Paseo de Mariposa Trail Race takes place on April 19, 2026, in Mariposa, in the Sierra Nevada foothills just outside Yosemite National Park. The event is organized by San Joaquin Running Co. and is presented as the seventh annual running of the race. Courses begin at the historic Mariposa Courthouse, built in 1851 and noted as the oldest courthouse west of the Rockies still in use.

The event offers two course options:

  • 5K - Starts at the courthouse; paved road, short climb past the high school, dirt fire road turnaround.
  • 12K - Single-track and fire road, steep descents, creek crossing, climb to Slaughterhouse Road and the Flume Trail.

Aid stations are placed across all distances and Mariposa County Search and Rescue will be on site for runner safety. Trails include technical sections with rocks, roots, climbs, and significant elevation change on the longer course, so pre-running or hiking the route is advised where possible. No dogs are permitted on any route.

The event emphasizes community and family participation. All children under 18 may participate in any race for free. On the 12K course, youth under 13 must be accompanied by an adult and strollers are not permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
