The Shadow of the Giants 50k & 20k Run takes place on Saturday, June 6, 2026, in Fish Camp, California (7798 White Chief Mountain Rd). This is the 36th annual running of the event. Two distances are offered:
- 50k (early start option available)
- 20k (early start option available)
The 50k has an overall time limit of 8 hours; early starters are allowed 9 hours to complete the course. Early starters are not eligible for overall awards but can receive age group awards.
Logistics and rules
Pre-race accommodations are available at Camp Green Meadows dorms the night before, and a pre-race lasagna dinner is offered in the dining hall; meals are prepared from pre-orders. Bib pickup is available at Camp Green Meadows cafeteria the day before and on race morning. Course maps and updates will be provided closer to the event; organizers list separate route maps for the 50k and the 20k. Aid stations are located roughly 5-7 miles apart and will offer food, gels, electrolyte drink, water, Coca-Cola, ginger ale, and a variety of sweet and salty snacks.
Guidelines include no pacers and no dogs on the trail; service animals are allowed on campus. Poles are permitted. Post-race food and beverages will be provided in the dining hall. Parking and camping rules apply on the camp property; large vehicles and tent camping on campus are not permitted. Changes to the entered distance can be made up until race day.
