The Shadow of the Giants is an annual trail running event held on June 5, 2027, on trails in the Sierra National Forest near Fish Camp, California. Two distances are offered:

  • 50k - 31.1 miles
  • 20k - 12.4 miles

The 50k has a time limit of eight hours, extended to nine hours for early starters. Aid stations are spaced roughly 5 to 7 miles apart and provide food, gels, electrolyte drink, water, Coca-Cola, ginger ale, and a variety of sweet and salty snacks. Poles are permitted. Pacers and pets are not allowed on the course; service animals are permitted on campus where noted.

Onsite options the night before include dormitory lodging at Camp Green Meadows and a pre-race lasagna dinner in the dining hall; meals are prepared from pre-orders and no additional tickets are sold at the door. Bunk assignments are first-come, first-served and participants should bring bedding. Showers and restrooms are available. Tent camping is not allowed on campus, though dispersed camping is available in the area. Large or oversized vehicles are not permitted on campus; alternative parking is available on nearby Forest Service roads.

Bib pickup is available the day before and on race day at the Camp Green Meadows cafeteria. Course maps and updates will be provided closer to race day.
