Pagan Midwinter Half Marathon

Pagan Trails takes place in Chagford, situated in the north-eastern corner of Dartmoor. The event base is located at the Chagford Cricket and Football Club. The courses traverse an area where the moorland meets the valleys of the Upper Teign and Bovey Rivers.

Participants can choose from two distinct distances:

  • Marathon: This route covers over 28 miles with more than 1,500 meters of total ascent.
  • Half Marathon: This route covers over 14 miles and features almost 700 meters of total ascent.

The routes are designed to visit various stone circles and pagan sites across northern Dartmoor. These locations are associated with the ancient history and legends of the region.

The event occurs during the winter season on Dartmoor, which presents specific environmental conditions for runners. The minimum age for entry is 17 years old. Registration is open to both UKA members and non-members. The local terrain includes significant elevation changes and rugged moorland sections.
