Outpost 8k : Flatrock, Newfoundland and Labrador

Outpost 8k is a trail race held in Flatrock, NL. The route starts at the Father Troy's Trail trailhead on Windgap Road, goes out to a large boulder known as "The Outpost," then turns back and follows the coastal trail to Torbay Beach. The advertised distance is about 8 km; if a detour around Tapper's Cove wharf is required, the total distance may be closer to 8.8 km.

This is the third edition of the event. Entry is capped at 150 runners. There is no active waitlist; any spots that open may be reoffered on a first come, first served basis. Categories are M, F, and X, with medals for the top three in each category.

Entry cost is $33 plus fees. Unregistration, cancellation, bib transfers, and refunds are not allowed; all sales are final. The event is not-for-profit: collected funds cover operational and safety costs and any surplus will be donated in a lump sum to the East Coast Trail Association and other local organizations.

The race enforces a cut-off time of either 1 hour 45 minutes or 2 hours depending on the route. Participants are asked to respect other trail users when passing and to avoid littering or damaging the course; violations may result in indefinite bans and voided results.
