Trail Endurance Challenge in Valley View

OUTLAST Dallas Fort Worth is a six-hour trail endurance event held at Lake Ray Roberts Johnson Branch Unit. The competition follows a specific format where participants attempt to complete a 5K loop every hour, on the hour. To remain in the event, runners must finish each lap within the sixty-minute time limit. Those who finish a lap early may rest until the start of the next round. If a participant fails to complete a lap within the hour, they are removed from the competition.

The event features two primary categories:

  • 6 Hour Challenge (Open registration)
  • 6 Hour Championship (Qualifiers only)

The course consists of trail terrain including dirt, rocks, roots, and elevation changes. While primarily natural terrain, some sections may include pavement or gravel. This is a cupless event, meaning participants are responsible for bringing their own hydration systems, though water and snacks are provided at the basecamp area.

Participants earn specific awards based on the number of laps completed. Finishing four laps earns a patch, five laps earns a different patch, and completing all six laps results in a medal and a ranking on the national leaderboard. The top male and female finishers with the fastest combined times for all six laps receive additional awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
