OUTLAST Dallas Fort Worth : event description

OUTLAST Dallas Fort Worth is a six hour trail endurance challenge held in Valley View, Texas. The event format requires competitors to complete a 5K loop every hour; each lap must be finished within that hour to remain in the event. Runners who finish a lap early may rest until the next hour; runners who miss a lap are removed from the challenge.

Courses are trail based and include natural terrain such as dirt, rocks, roots, and elevation changes. Some sections may include pavement or gravel. Aid is available at the basecamp or loop start with water, basic hydration, and snacks. This is a cupless event; participants are expected to use their own bottle or hydration system. Participants may set up a personal aid tent at the site.

Recognition and awards are tied to laps completed and combined time. Completing four laps earns a "Grit Earned" patch, five laps earns a "Survivor" patch, and completing all six laps earns a premium OUTLAST medal. All participants receive a premium OUTLAST tee. Local first place male and female winners are determined by the fastest combined 5K times and each receive prize money. Finishers are ranked on a national leaderboard; the fastest overall across all OUTLAST six hour events is eligible for a national prize. A separate championship event is listed for qualifiers only.
