Outer Limits After Dark - Mount Louisa
Outer Limits After Dark is a night trail run on the walking tracks and original trails of Mount Louisa, with Event HQ near the Sports Centre at Calvary Christian College, 569 Bayswater Road, Mount Louisa. Mount Louisa sits at 193 metres above sea level and its trails include paved steps, wide gravel paths and flowy single track with climbs, steep descents and loose, rocky sections. Views normally include Townsville Airport, Town Common and Magnetic Island, though visibility is reduced at night.
Courses follow marked and marshalled trails and vary by distance:
- 6 km loop starting and finishing at Event HQ
- 10 km loop following the 6 km route with an extended summit section
- 21 km double lap of the 10 km route
All runners must carry a charged head torch. Additional mandatory gear for the 10 km and 21 km distances includes two compression bandages, a fully charged waterproof phone, a whistle, a space blanket and sufficient water and nutrition. The event provides a fully marked course, marshals, on-course first aid and a safety vehicle, professional timing and on-course photography. Bib collection, a signed bag drop at Event HQ, finish-line refreshments and a post-race recovery station are available. A cut off applies to the 21 km course; runners who miss the turnaround may be directed to the finish and can have their distance changed to 10 km. Trail etiquette and event rules require visible bibs, no shortcuts and no headphones on course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
