Cape Pallarenda Trail Run
The Cape Pallarenda Trail Run is a multi-distance trail event held at Cape Pallarenda with Race HQ at Freemason’s Park. The event uses the park's trail network and features routes that pass Mt Marlow summit, Smedleys Ridge, the Graveyard Circuit, the Forts and the single track known as Under the Radar. Runners will see views over Cleveland Bay, Magnetic Island and the Coral Sea.
Terrain varies from technical single track to wider fire trails, with steep climbs, loose rocky sections and some flat running. The surface is mostly dry and rocky, so good trail shoes are recommended. Courses include beach running sections, stair descents and exposed single track. Water and snack support is provided on course but runners are expected to carry sufficient water and nutrition for their distance.
The event offers four distances:
- 5 km Gunners Salute
- 12 km Brolga Dreaming
- 21 km Heartbreak Half Marathon
- 42 km Mt Marlow Marathon
Entry fees vary by distance and registration period. All competitors must sign in and collect a bib at Race HQ and may be subject to mandatory gear checks. Mandatory items for longer distances include two compression bandages, a fully charged waterproofed phone, a whistle, a space blanket and sufficient water and nutrition. The organisers provide course marshals, first aid support, electronic timing, on-course photography and finish line refreshments. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
