Insomnia 100

Townsville City, Australia • 27-28 Sep 2025

Event format and course

Townsville Triathlon Club is staging the inaugural Riverway Insomniac 100 Ultra and the Riverway Insomnia 42 Marathon in Townsville. The race uses a repeated lap format on a 4.2 km circuit. Each lap starts on the hour, every hour, for a 24-hour period. Laps alternate between clockwise and anti-clockwise. Competitors have 60 seconds from the lap start to begin each lap and must cross the finish line before the hour is up. Failure to start the next lap on the hour or to complete a lap within the hour results in a DNF, and results will show completed laps.

Categories, entry and support

Both distances can be contested as SOLO entries or as TEAM entries. Teams must have between two and four runners. The event is sanctioned by AusTriathlon; minimum age is 18 years for solo and most team entries. Teams of four may include runners aged 15 years or older. The base entry fee is AUD 10 per runner; participants are also asked for an optional donation to Prevail, a humanitarian organisation. A semi-secure Rest & Recovery area will be available at the start line for competitors and support people, and Riverway amenities will be accessible. Competitors are expected to be relatively self-sufficient for nutrition, hydration and personal supplies. Event winners and podium finishers are those with the lowest aggregated time.
