Orient-deering!
Orient-deering! is a navigational trail event organised by Trail Boss Running near North Hill, Little Baddow, Chelmsford, Essex (CM3 4TA). The course for this edition is roughly fourteen to eighteen miles depending on route choice. Major control points on the route will be staffed as aid stations.
Racing is team-based with entrants forming pairs or threes. Teams are released at intervals, with every second team directed to travel counterclockwise. At registration each team will receive a custom waterproof map from Harvey's, and route choice during the event affects the total distance covered.
Entry is handled online and the entry fee is £15 per runner. The organiser plans to offer a few basic navigation practice sessions for registrants before the event, with details sent to those who register.
Mandatory kit listed for the event includes a compass, a phone, and a sense of humour. The course is changed annually, so future editions will use a different route and control layout. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
