Operation STAUNTON 2026

Operation STAUNTON is a fitness event held at Staunton State Park in Colorado. The event structure combines distance running or hiking with carrying specific weighted loads. Participants choose from four distinct distance categories, each with a corresponding elevation profile and load requirement.

The available distance and elevation options include:

  • Operation STAUNTON MINI: 6.5 miles with an elevation gain of 1,099 ft.
  • Operation STAUNTON (Standard): 11 miles with an elevation gain of 2,018 ft.
  • Operation STAUNTON MAX: 17.5 miles with an elevation gain of 2,726 ft.
  • Operation STAUNTON (SF): 21.5 miles with an elevation gain of 3,625 ft.

Participants carry a "dry" load during the event, which refers to the weight of the pack excluding water and consumables. There are four weight classifications available: 10 lbs, 20 lbs, 30 lbs, and 40 lbs. The event takes place within the Pine Junction Area of the state park, utilizing the natural terrain of the Colorado landscape.

All profits generated from the ticket sales for this event are donated to the Special Forces Foundation. The event is organized by Green Beret Fitness and requires registration for specific distance tiers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
