Old Pueblo Endurance Runs

Old Pueblo Endurance Runs is a trail ultramarathon near Sonoita, Arizona, offering two distances that run on the flanks of the Santa Rita Mountains and include sections of the Arizona Trail. The event has been held since 1985 and has used various routes and formats while remaining centered on this mountain area.

The course starts at the historic Kentucky Camp mining site and moves into the rugged terrain beneath Mt. Wrightson, which rises to 9452 feet. The primary loop is a 25 mile circuit on forest service roads and trails through the southeastern Santa Ritas. Elevation at the start and finish is 5142 feet, overall course elevation ranges from 4031 to 6232 feet, and the average grade is about 6 percent.

Course notes for 2026 match the revised route used in 2025; the modified flow sends runners down Fish Canyon from Melendrez Pass through to the Cave Creek aid station and omits the Greaterville trail and the off-trail wilderness bypass.

Time limits are 7 hours for the 25 mile event and 15 hours for the 50 mile event. Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each race and all finishers receive awards. The event is cupless and provides a reusable collapsible cup at packet pickup. A 10 percent discount is offered to Native Americans, active duty military, law enforcement, firefighters and first responders. No refunds are offered; up to five entries may be deferred to the following year on a first come basis. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older.

The 50 mile race is part of the Southern Arizona Triple 50 series and awards automatic entry tickets to Angeles Crest 100 for its top two male and female finishers, subject to standard race registration fees. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
