Old Pueblo Endurance Runs
Old Pueblo Endurance Runs is a trail ultramarathon held near Sonoita, Arizona. The event has been run since 1985 and takes place on the flanks of the Santa Rita Mountains, with routes that follow sections of the Arizona Trail. The race begins at the historic mining site of Kentucky Camp and travels into the rugged, rocky terrain beneath Mt. Wrightson, which rises to 9,452 feet and is often visible from the course.
The event has evolved over time, with different routes, starts, finishes and distances since its inception. The race site carries historical significance from early Native American use and from ranchers, farmers and miners who used these trails. Old Pueblo is part of the Southern Arizona Triple 50 series; runners who complete three designated 50 mile ultras in a single season are eligible for special prizes and a discounted rate.
Partnerships include a Sterling Silver Ticket arrangement with the Angeles Crest 100, where the first and second place male and female finishers in the 50 mile race receive tickets that bypass the Angeles Crest 100 lottery subject to that race's registration fees. The event also maintains partnerships with regional races such as the PhoMo 50K.
