About the race
The Sonoita Vineyards Wine Run takes place at Sonoita Vineyards in Elgin, Arizona on February 13, 2027. The event features a chip timed 5K run and a shorter walk option that use the vineyard grounds and nearby roads.
Distances offered:
- 5K run: two-lap route suitable for runners and walkers with some significant inclines.
- 1.5 mile walk: follows the same route and finishes after one lap at the winery.
Registration information is provided for each event with a fee of $30.00; registration opens May 11, 2026 and closes November 21, 2026. The 5K is chip timed and results will be posted online by J3 Timing.
Registration includes a Super Soft Ring Spun Cotton t-shirt, a plastic wine cup, a finisher medal that doubles as a wine stopper, and a race bib. After the run or walk participants receive a pour of wine at the winery.
Sonoita Vineyards is described as the oldest commercial vineyard and winery in Arizona, started in 1974 and opened in 1983, with over 30 acres of vines in the Sonoita American Viticultural Area. The property sits at about 5,000 feet elevation among rolling grasslands and is surrounded on three sides by mountain ranges. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
