About the race
The Empire Ranch Trail Run is scheduled for January 23, 2027, at 16655 E Empire Ranch Rd, Sonoita, Arizona, on the grounds of the historic Empire Ranch within the Las Cienegas National Conservation Area. The event is produced by Run Tucson in partnership with the Empire Ranch Foundation and the Bureau of Land Management and raises funds to protect and sustain the Empire Ranch buildings and landscape as a western heritage and education center.
Trails run through rolling grasslands and include wide dirt trails, cattle paths, and the Heritage Trail, with views toward the Mustang Mountains and the Santa Rita Mountains. The program includes multiple distances and participant options.
- 10K Trail Run, fee $35.
- 5K Run/Walk, fee $35.
- 1 Mile family walk/run, fee $30, receives souvenir shirt.
- Children's Mile (10-and-under), fee $5, receives bib and official time, no shirt.
- Parent's One-Mile, free, no bib, no official time, no souvenir shirt.
Participants receive souvenir bib numbers and official timing for most events; the 1-mile family event includes a finisher's video. Souvenir shirts are available to early registrants and a souvenir medal is offered for purchase as an add-on. Event day demonstrations and displays depict ranch life and the history of the Empire Ranch. Overall and age group awards are provided as part of the event.
