Course and logistics
The advertised distance is 16 miles, though the course is probably a little less. The route starts across the road from Bigelow Hollow State Park and follows the Nipmuck Trail south through the Yale-Myers Forest to a turnaround at Boston Hollow (also called Alpacaville), then returns along the same route. The trail is blazed blue for the entire course and additional flagging is placed at some tricky spots. The terrain is technical and includes vertical sections.
Parking is available at Bigelow Hollow State Park; a trail from the parking area avoids walking along the road and signs direct participants. Minimal aid is provided at Two Pipes and Boston Hollow, approximately at miles 4, 8, and 12. Participants are responsible for navigating the course.
