Night Claw
Glen Rose, United States • 15 Aug 2026
Event Overview
Night Claw is a nighttime trail race in Dinosaur Valley State Park near Glen Rose, Texas. Participants can choose from several race formats: a 4-mile loop, a 10 km loop, or timed events of 4-hour, 6-hour, and 8-hour durations on the 10 km loop.
The Course
The course consists of dirt and rocky single-track trails, with a river crossing. The terrain is hilly, with the 10 km loop featuring approximately 650 feet of elevation gain. The event is a cup-free race, so participants must bring their own water-carrying system. Historic average night-time temperatures are between 75 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
The Claw Challenge
An optional feature called the Claw Challenge is available. Participants who opt in receive a bib with a tear tag. A volunteer runner dressed as "the Claw" will chase participants to collect these tags. If a runner finishes with their tag intact, they earn an "Escaped" designation and a special finisher medal add-on. If their tag is taken, they are marked as "Clawed" and receive a different medal add-on.
Series and Logistics
The race is part of the Texas Summer Night Series, which includes eight races across Texas. Completing three of the eight races in the series earns a set of collectible medals. Packet pickup and a pop-up store are available on-site before the race. All participants receive a race t-shirt and a finisher medal. The event features an aid station, course photography, and a fully marked and supported course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
