Night Challenge 3: Pier Gates is a night mountain running event in County Wicklow on Friday 9 October 2026. The route is fully marked and GPS devices are not allowed. The event difficulty is rated for moderate terrain with significant ascent.

The long course covers about 11 km with roughly 450 m of climb; the short course is about 5 km with roughly 170 m of climb. Runners must be age 18 or older to enter the long course. Runners and walkers aged 14 or older may enter the short course. Terrain includes technical sections, bog, boardwalk, forest trail and some open mountain on the long course; the short course avoids open mountain and stays mainly on forest trail with some technical sections. Weather may affect conditions and visibility.

Mandatory Level B kit is required and will be checked; items listed include a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or equivalent. A headtorch and a reflective light or reflective arm or waist band are also required. Failure to carry the required items may result in denial of entry or disqualification.
