King of the Mountain, 27 June 2026

The King of the Mountain is a 27 kilometer event on bush track and fire trails that runs from the top of Mt Sugarloaf down to Wakefield and returns via the same trail. The route follows fire trail terrain and includes both downhill and uphill sections.

Entry and eligibility are managed online. Registration and payment must be completed by 6pm on the Friday before the event. Check in closes at 11:30am on the day on the mountain. Competitors must be 18 years or older on the day and must wear identification bibs supplied, visible at each checkpoint. Cut off times are two hours to the halfway point at Wakefield and four hours to the finish at Mt Sugarloaf.

On course support includes aid stations stocked with coke, water and bananas, plus professional first aid and medical support on course and at the registration desk. Hot soup is provided at the finish line. Run finisher medals for the first three places in King and Queen of the Mountain are presented at the conclusion of the event, and there are mystery prizes for entrants.

The event is presented with partner RES Contracting and Excavation. Entry is free for NXC members who have a discount code; non members pay one hundred dollars.
