King of the Mountain

The King of the Mountain is an endurance running event held at Mt Sugarloaf. The course is 25 kilometers of bush track and fire trail, starting from the top of Mt Sugarloaf, descending to Wakefield and returning along the same trail.

Entries will open in April 2026 and the event date is 27 June 2026. Registration and payment must be completed online by 6pm on the Friday before the event. Check in on the mountain closes at 11:30am on event day. Competitors must be 18 years or older on the day and must wear identification bibs supplied, visible at each checkpoint. Cut off times are set at 2 hours to the halfway point at Wakefield and 4 hours to the finish at Mt Sugarloaf.

Aid stations on course are stocked with coke, water and bananas. Professional first aid and medical support are available on course and at the registration desk. Hot soup is provided at the finish line. Run finisher medals are presented to the first three places in the King and Queen categories at the conclusion of the event, and mystery prizes are offered to entrants.

Entry is free for members of NXC using a discount code; non-members pay an entry fee of $100. The event partner is RES Contracting and Excavation.
