Newbsanity Mud Gauntlet

The Newbsanity Mud Gauntlet is the 12th annual obstacle course event held in Binghamton, New York at 790 Dunham Hill Road. The main course is approximately 3.5 miles and runs across about 100 acres of wooded terrain where participants encounter both natural and man-made obstacles. Many obstacles offer alternative routes so participants can select different difficulty levels on course.

The course layout includes two named route options at certain obstacles: the Risk and Reward path and the Tried and True path. This arrangement allows more experienced athletes and first-timers to use different lines while remaining on the same loop.

The event features multiple heat types:

  • Elite / Age Group Competitive: timed heats. Elite competitors are eligible for cash awards to the top three overall male and female finishers with payouts of $500, $250, and $100. Athletes in these heats are expected to complete obstacles or associated penalties. Age group top finishers receive awards.
  • Multi Lap: timed laps with a six hour window to complete as many laps as possible. Participants are encouraged to attempt obstacles but are not required to complete every obstacle.
  • Single Lap Open Wave: open heats are not timed. Participants may attempt any obstacles but are not required to complete them. Open participants receive an event shirt and a medal.

A festival area on site offers food options, and open wave participants receive event swag. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
