Canyon of the Eagles New Year Trail Challenge : Burnet, Texas
This multi-distance trail event takes place at Canyon of the Eagles in Burnet, Texas, along the Colorado River and on sun-bleached limestone bluffs. The course uses looped trail sections that pass river views and varied natural terrain.
Distances offered include:
- 62.2 miles (100K ultra)
- 31.1 miles (50K ultra)
- 15.5 miles (25K)
- 13.1 miles (half marathon)
- 10K
- 5K
The 100K and 50K ultramarathons run on looped trails and report an elevation change of about 512 ft gain and 531 ft loss per loop. Cutoff time for the ultramarathon distances is 24 hours. Some shorter distances are also looped and emphasize varied trail surfaces and river scenery.
Several events offer a ruck division that requires participants to carry a weighted backpack. Weight requirements and verification procedures are specified by division and include checks at the start and finish. Specific weight minimums differ by event and participant category.
