Canyon of the Eagles New Year’s Trail Challenge (Burnet, TX)
This multi-distance trail event takes place at the Canyon of the Eagles near Burnet, Texas, on January 1–2, 2027. The event offers several looped and out-and-back courses that run along trails and beside the Colorado River, with sections of limestone bluffs and wooded terrain.
Distances include:
- 100K (ultramarathon)
- 50K (ultramarathon)
- 25K trail run
- 13.1M half marathon
- 10K
- 5K
The 100K and 50K use a looped course along the river and on trails, with reported elevation changes of about 512 ft gain and 531 ft loss per loop and a 24 hour cutoff for those ultras. The 25K course is described as varied natural scenery with a 12 hour cutoff. The half marathon and 25K ruck division share scenic looped routes featuring river views and moderate inclines.
Ruck divisions are offered for several distances. Weight rules are specified per division. For the 13.1M and 25K ruck division participants must meet a minimum weight requirement and undergo weight checks at the start and finish. For shorter ruck events men and women have listed minimum dry weights and weight verification procedures.
