Event Overview
This is the 15th edition of the National Trails Day 5K, held at High Bridge Trail State Park in Rice, Virginia. The event celebrates National Trails Day.
Course Details
The course is a 5k run on a converted rail trail. The surface is wide, level crushed gravel with virtually no grade. The route is an out-and-back across the historic, half-mile-long High Bridge.
Participant Information
Both runners and walkers are welcome. Strollers appropriate for the crushed gravel surface are permitted, but pets are not allowed. All registered participants receive a High Bridge Trail State Park hat. Official finishers receive a custom finisher medal.
Registration and Logistics
Registration is available online. A family pricing discount is offered for groups of four or more immediate family members registering together. There is a $5.00 parking fee at the state park on race day, though a complimentary parking voucher is available for those who pick up their packet the day before.
Awards and Prizes
Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers and the top three finishers in standard age groups. The top overall male and female finishers each win a free weekend cabin stay in a Virginia State Park. A raffle with prizes from local Farmville businesses is held during the awards ceremony; all runners are entered but must be present to win.
