National Trails Day 5K at High Bridge Trail State Park
The event is the 15th running of the National Trails Day 5K held at High Bridge Trail State Park in Rice, Virginia. The course uses a rail to trail conversion that provides a wide, level surface with virtually no grade and follows an out and back route across the historic half mile High Bridge. The listed distance is 3.1 miles.
The event is sponsored by Friends of High Bridge Trail and proceeds support park programs. The start and finish are located at 1466 Camp Paradise Road, Rice, VA 23966. The site is about 3 miles from downtown Farmville and includes a $5.00 parking fee collected at the race site. A complimentary $5 parking voucher is available for those who pick up race packets on Friday, June 5.
Registration is offered online for $30, with a $35 fee listed for June 1 through race day. Registration fees are non refundable and non transferable. If the in person 5K is canceled, registrations will be moved to a Virtual 5K scheduled the same day. Family pricing applies when four or more immediate family members register together; the discount is applied at checkout and is not retroactive.
Pre race packet pickup is available Friday, June 5 at the Virginia's Heartland Regional Visitor Center. Race day registration is available for $35 via mobile device or computer before arriving; there is no on site paper registration. Strollers approved for crushed gravel surfaces are permitted; the event may deny strollers it considers unsafe. Pets are not allowed to participate.
